It is also a great place for lovebirds looking to have a romantic getaway far from home. Whether you are out to have fun for purposes of teambuilding or looking to have unforgettable moments with your family and kids, below is a top attraction to visit in Memphis, TN, according to the Memphis Business Boosters.

Graceland

The mansion belongs to Lisa Marie Presley who inherited it from her late father Elvis Presley, a singer and actor. You can find this mansion at 3764 Elvis Presley Blvd., resting on a 13-acre estate. This iconic mansion was classified as a museum after it became open to the public in June 1982. With at least 650, 000 visitors coming to see the mansion annually, it is officially the 2nd most-visited building in America after the popular White House.

Stephen C. Toof, the former Memphis Daily Appeal pressroom foreman, was the original owner of Graceland Farms. He also founded S.C. Toof & Co. The farmland adopted its name from Grace, Toof’s daughter. This was way before the mansion was built. Apparently, Grace inherited the farmland from her late father Toof in 1894. When she died, her niece Ruth Moore became the new owner of the property. In 1939, Ruth and her husband built the 10, 266-square foot mansion. After his musical career peaked, Elvis Presley purchased the home for $40, 000 to live with his family.

While Graceland may be overcrowded, there is no doubt it is one of the most fun places to visit in Memphis, even for non-fans. The Memphis Business Boosters often advise visitors to arrive early and get to the mansion before it becomes overcrowded. You also want to be on the lookout for discounts on tickets, which the visitors’ bureau can help you with. The MBB also recommends that you visit Graceland website for any events that coincide with the time that you will be visiting the historic site. The month of August tends to be the busiest, as the Elvis Week festival (held annually) attracts visitors from different places across the U.S. and the world.
